We last saw a hybrid Civic on these shores in 2015. After that model was killed off, Honda marketed the Insight hybrid, which fulfilled the duties of an electrified Civic in all but name.
The Insight was discontinued after the 2022 model year, but with a buying public cooling on full EVs of late, interest in hybrids has been perking up, making it a smart move on Honda’s part to return a version to the Civic lineup.
The 2025 Honda Civic hybrid features a two-motor hybrid system paired with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, largely the same powertrain setup as seen in the Accord, turning out an estimated 200 combined hp and 232 lb-ft of torque in Civic guise, which Honda says will make it the most powerful non-Type R Civic ever.
